Celebrating Earth Day With A Global Gang of Yogi’s
Lara Heimann, E-RYT 500, a physical therapist, functional yoga pioneer,…
When yoga pioneer Lara Heimann started her online teacher training for 180 people from all over the world 9 weeks ago, she never could have guessed that halfway through, her students would be facing a global crisis. While the training is an intensive and immersive program of movement, anatomy and neurodevelopment, the most profound lesson learned by these trainees in these last week has been one of resilience. No matter what continent each person is from, they, like us, have been experiencing the same fears, the same anxieties and the same isolation. In an instant, we became citizens of the world, all facing the same realities and stopped seeing people by culture, by race, by nationality or by state.
As Earth Day approaches this Wednesday, let us be reminded of this—that while we cannot be physically together—we stand in solidarity as a world all fighting for the same thing.
We wanted to share this beautiful video made by these 150 participants who are moving alone together to celebrate the earth, it’s beauty and the hope of spring in health and unity. The landscapes, the backdrops, the climates and the bodies are all different. They salute the sun and the coming of a new dawn.
