Anti-Aging All Stars. 3 Ingredients.
Sweat Equity Magazine has been the number one source on…
In today’s beauty world everything proclaims anti-aging results and “the most effective” . . . ‘whatever’—emphasizing how you can’t live without this or that product. Deciphering between what works and what’s hyped-up nonsense can be a challenge. As we get older, fine lines and wrinkles start to form, and the search for what works in the battle for a youthful appearance begins.
As we age, the epidermis begins to lose its ability to retain crucial moisture and hydration, ultimately leading to fine lines on the skin’s surface. At the skin’s subsurface dermal layer, collagen and elastin start to break down, which weakens the skin’s structural integrity. Soon enough you will start to notice deep-set wrinkles and frown lines.
The following three anti-aging ingredients are proven to provide results:
1. Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid)
Our bodies don’t produce vitamin C; we obtain this essential vitamin from the food we eat, supplements we take, and topical products we use. However, most of what we ingest is used as energy and nutrients for other parts of the body. So, applying a topical vitamin C formulated with L-ascorbic acid is essential for healthy, strong, and supple skin. Many important factors impact the efficacy of vitamin C, including the type used, the level of concentration, and the overall product formulation.
Start using a daily serum with L-ascorbic acid. Use the water-soluble and stable form of vitamin C with the right molecular structure, so that your skin can absorb, recognize, and then utilize it. To be effective, vitamin C needs to be in a concentration of 10% or higher. Look for this percentage on the box to ensure you’re applying the right concentration level and receiving stellar results. Use vitamin C daily to support collagen, brighten your complexion, and create long-lasting, healthy, glowing skin.
2. Peptides
There’s a lot of buzz in the skin-care industry around peptides. You see magazines, commercials, and celebrities all promoting products with this ingredient. That’s because incorporating peptides into your skin-care routine is an excellent way to enhance your overall results while receiving short- and long-term benefits, from softening the appearance of wrinkles to slowing down the overall signs of aging. Various healthy peptides are available to target specific skin concerns, allowing you to achieve a broad range of desired results.
Our skin is the largest organ and is made up of mostly water and collagen, which is the groundwork for structural support and thickness. Collagen consists of proteins made of long sequences of amino acids hooked together like chains on a linked fence. In our youth, we have an abundance of collagen, giving us firm, even skin; but as we age, less collagen leads to thinner, more wrinkled, and sagging skin. Peptides are long or short chains of amino acids, which are the building blocks of collagen within the skin. When collagen weakens, you can use peptides to act as a signal that tells your skin it was damaged and needs to produce new collagen. Since peptides are tiny amino acids, they can penetrate the skin’s protective barriers and do their magic.
Look for a good anti-aging cream with peptides to nourish the skin while promoting collagen production. Incorporating peptides into your daily routine will help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while supporting your skin’s integrity for years to come.
3. Vitamin A/Retinal (Retinaldehyde)
Vitamin A is a recognized anti-aging ingredient. Dermatologists, skin experts, and beauty industry veterans all understand the benefits of using vitamin A in a skin-care routine. For a product that offers a potent punch of vitamin A and visible results, look for items featuring retinal, which is the most effective cosmeceutical strength form of vitamin A. Retinal works to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and “crow’s feet,” while promoting an overall smoothness and evenness of facial skin tone.
Various forms of retinoids are commonly used in topical skin-care medicines, products, and cosmetics, primarily due to the way they synchronize healthy epidermal cell growth. Think of vitamin A as exercising the skin from within. As we get older, our cellular turnover slows down, and vitamin A can keep things moving at a nice, youthful speed.
Incorporate a potent retinal-based product into your evening regimen to increase cellular turnover, minimize the appearance of wrinkles, and soften your skin’s texture.
And of course, don’t forget . . . .
Last but not least, remember to apply sun protection daily. Year-round sun protection is a must, but as the days heat up and the spring sunshine beams down on us, we tend to be outside more often, enjoying the glory of nature.
Two kinds of rays penetrate the ozone: UVA and UVB. UVB rays can cause superficial damage, like sunburns, while UVA rays penetrate deep into the dermis and cause mayhem, breaking down the collagen and elastin that holds your skin in place. UVA rays are responsible for the aging aspects of sun exposure, like wrinkling, loss of firmness, and hyperpigmentation. Always use a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB mineral- based sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. If you’re planning to spend more time outside, use a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. You should reapply sun protection at least every two hours. If you’re swimming or working up a sweat, reapply immediately. It’s better to be safe than burnt and sorry.
