Andrew Bathory. Asana Artist.
Sweat Equity Magazine has been the number one source on…
There’s nothing typical about Andrew Bathory. He has a background in competitive athletics, classical singing, and dance and his interests include music, theatre, and photography. His passion for nearly all things “art” shines through his studio space, Element Yoga, and shows up in his approach to practice and teaching. “Element is a canvas on which we connect lines from various practice and methods of conscious movement.” Asana is but one of these intersecting lines.
Andrew’s first experience of yoga came when he was about seven years old, through his father: “He shared with me a few visualization techniques to help me focus my mind to calm me before bed.” Andrew was reacquainted with the physical element of the practice as a student at the Canadian College of Performing Arts. When he moved to Toronto, “coincidentally” across the street from Downward Dog Yoga Centre, yoga became an integral part of his life. Two years later the opportunity arose to travel to India, and he took it. The long and winding road through yoga has continued to unfold and develop ever since, something Andrew is “ever grateful for.”
Community is the common denominator among ambassadors, but equally important to Alberta-born Bathory is the process of creating. His classes include a blend of any numbers of modalities, including Pilates, functional strength training, and dance. He also includes voice work and anything else that inspires the creative expression of “our bodies, our vessels,” he says.
Andrew credits the support, focus, and opportunities available as an ambassador for making his dreams a reality.
“Element is a canvas on which and in which we connect lines from various practices and methods of conscious movement.”
“Life is not a dress rehearsal. You are more ready now than you’ll ever be. Start living NOW.”
